September 3, 2007 | Filed Under Faces, Stained Glass

This is a selection of some of the faces I have painted in the last four years for Conrad Pickel Studio. Most of these faces are around life size, though some of them are as large as one and a half life, and a couple are only about five or six inches. You will notice that a few were photographed in progress. The ones which look speckled were photographed at a time of day when the sun was shining almost directly through the glass. This caused the bubbles in the glass, which is mouth-blown and therefore very crystalline and “imperfect”, to cast little shadows, as when you used to hold a clear marble to your eye and look toward the light to see the universe inside.

    Breathtaking. Aweinspiring. Mystical. Magical. Gorgeous.
these faces, the detail, the luminosity. I could only hope to ever even come close to such artistry. It inspires me to learn. Where can I learn to do what you do?
thank you for sharing the beauty of your gift.

This is absolutely beautiful work! I do stained glass but nothing compared to this. I’ve never learned to do the painting side of it but I feel very inspired looking at your work!!!
